Neither rain nor sleet nor what?
So what is the full post office slogan? I think it's "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds." For years I wondered what it was, then I saw it written in stone at a post office.

Top things to never say to your wife:

  • "I didn't get it done because you didn't remind me enough." (This came close to ruining a friends marriage)

Calvin Pong
A few years back I worked at a computer company that was bought out by another computer company. After six months the number of people working out of our office dwindled from 100 to 15. We had a ping pong table in our lunch room, and one of my best friends and I developed a game that we played in our off hours. The room was about 30' long and 20' wide, with the ping-pong table centered in the space. We called the game Calvinpong (in homage to Calvinball). The rules of Calvinpong were simple:

  • Scoring: You get two points if you hit the ball and it directly hits your opponent's side of the table. You get one point if it bounces off something else first (like the ceiling or wall).
  • You can hit the ball twice, but it has to bounce at least once between hits.
  • Serving: when you serve you must hit it, and it must hit your side of the table before proceeding over the net, and then bounce again. When returning the ball, it must hit something (the ground, wall, floor, etc.) before you can hit it back.
  • In tradition, one person keeps track of their score with letters and one with numbers.
